Officially, Instagram does not provide historical data (backdated data) for certain metrics. Number of followers, for example, are not monitored by Instagram and, therefore, it is not possible to consult historical data regarding this data.
Instagram only provides the number of followers for the current day. The same goes for Stories information and demographic information.
How do I get the history of the number of followers?
To meet this need, we created a tool that collects values daily from your Instagram account and records them in your DashGoo username. Thus, it is possible to generate a history that can be used in future reports. The same goes for the “Following” metric.
The history of followers will be archived from the moment your account is added to DashGoo and associated with a customer's registration, that is, if you added the Instagram account on 07/20/2020 to DashGoo and associated it in the customer's registration on the 21/07th, you will only have the number of followers from the 21/07th onwards.
If you try to generate a report with data prior to this period, the number of followers will not be displayed or will have a value equal to “0”. The account must also have an active token for this history to be generated daily.
Above, a graph with the “Followers” metric generated with a period prior to linking the account on DashGoo. In the example, 03/30/2020 was the day the account was linked to DashGoo, which allowed it to already have value for the next day and also generate the daily history after that.
Officially, Instagram does not provide historical Stories data
The Instagram Stories report has a particularity: it does not save historical information if the account is not active on DashGoo.
At Meta, Stories are temporary and last for 24 hours, and their results are available for evaluation for a limited time.
Therefore, DashGoo will only be able to collect and save this information and thus create a history if the Instagram account has already been connected to our system for a certain period.
How do I get the history of Stories?
Stories will be archived from the moment your Instagram account is added to DashGoo and associated with a customer's registration, that is, if you registered the Instagram account on 05/10/2020 in Connections and associated the customer's account in the customer's register on the 11/05th, you will have information from the Stories from the 11/05th onwards.
The longer your account is linked to DashGoo, the more complete your history will be.
The account must also have an active token and be correctly connected to DashGoo for this history to be generated daily. The account must be associated with a customer's registration. If the account is not associated, the history of this period will not be generated.
Demographic information – age, gender and location
The same goes for demographic information. Meta only provides current information (today's information).
Demographic information (age, gender and location) will be archived from the moment your account is added to DashGoo, that is, if you added your Instagram account on 05/10/2020 to DashGoo, you will only have demographic information from day 10/05 onwards. If you try to generate a report with a period before that, you will have no information. With the connected account time you will have a great saved history.
The account must also have an active token and be correctly connected to DashGoo for this history to be generated daily.
All metrics marked with “*” inside the widget are metrics that need history generated after connecting the DashGoo account.
Official API Limitations:
Information about IG users is only available on Instagram user accounts that have 100 or more followers.
The official API only reports organic interaction metrics; interactions on ads that contain a media object are not counted.
If the Instagram account has recently converted to commercial, most metrics will only have information from the account conversion date onwards.
Posts and #hashtags:
The information (insights) of the last 1000 publications of each added account will be available. Depending on the number of daily publications, the analysis period for a report may be several months in advance. If a given account makes 50 publications per month, for example, it will have historical data for 20 months (counting from today backwards).
Required Permissions:
Do not edit the necessary permissions or disable any of them, as DashGoo will not be able to update the data.
